Liverpool should seriously consider selling this £22.5m-rated lynchpin to raise summer funds

Here in the Transfer Tavern, Liverpool fans are delighted to see their side still within reach of Champions League success this term. Selling un-wanted players this summer will help raise funds for new, fresh talent to boost Premier League hopes and dreams next season.

One player who may be seen as “sellable” this summer is Jordan Henderson, valued at £22.50 million on Transfermarkt. The club captain has found his position taken on a few occasions this season and with summer arrival Naby Keita set to star at the heart of midfield, should Hendo be targeting a move elsewhere?

With hopes of being a team’s top player again, Liverpool might not be the side who can guarantee Jordan Henderson the necessary game time.

Despite our fans deeming him as a player Liverpool may look to cash in on, the number 14 has played in 29 games this season and can act still as an integral part of their midfield. However, if the Reds want to target trophies then bringing in the more prestigious midfield names wouldn’t be a bad move from Jurgen Klopp. Indeed, perhaps it could prove a move beneficial to all parties.

At 27, already Henderson could find that new talent is better and more suited to the Liverpool team than himself, something that could also boost his international hopes.

Landlord’s verdict:

It would be surprising to see Jordan Henderson leave Liverpool but then again he isn’t the type of player you associate with making things happen on the pitch. Whether the Reds could find a better replacement is a tricky question but Liverpool need more dynamic players in their line-up to frighten teams all over the pitch.

Thoughts Reds fans – Would you sell Jordan Henderson?
