Simon Donnelly joined the Blood Red podcast once again to talk about Liverpool's recent run of form and how finally losing in the Premier League just might be beneficial for the squad.

The situation at Anfield is a rather strange one. Not only were Liverpool beaten by Watford in the Premier League recently but they also suffered another defeat in the FA Cup against Chelsea after previously beating pretty much all before them domestically.

Needless to say, for a team that's been on fire throughout 2019/20, this has come as a bit of a surprise. Still, Donnelly believes losing the unbeaten streak might actually come as a surprise boost for the squad.

Here's what he said for the Blood Red podcast (4/3/2020): "But in a funny way, maybe we've got a little monkey off our back. Maybe this little sort of challenge of going through the season unbeaten was weighing heavily on our backs. And now that that's gone, I think we might see a little bit more of an open attack in Liverpool that we were used to in the first half of the season."

And while losing three games in the last four matches certainly sounds pretty bad, Donnelly just might have a point and maybe going unbeaten was something that kept Jurgen Klopp too preoccupied at times. After all, Manchester City showed no signs of slowing down when they lost their unbeaten status deep into the 17/18 campaign.
