Liverpool will be preparing for their Champions League final showdown with Real Madrid, but fans in the Transfer Tavern will be concerned that they could be without a key man for the clash.
The Reds have battled their way to the biggest game in European football with some solid results, and will know they will have to do the same once again if they are to lift the trophy in Kiev at the expense of the two-times defending champions.
The game, however, could have come too quickly for midfielder Emre Can, with The Liverpool Echo reporting that he could be set to miss the tie and as such is unlikely to play for the side again, as he edges closer to a move to Juventus this summer.
The 24-year-old has certainly endured a hellish week, having been omitted from the Germany squad for the World Cup tournament, and he is now likely to miss one of the biggest games of his career so far.
Landlord’s Verdict: The Liverpool fans in the Tavern will be devastated with the news of another setback, what with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is also out of the clash with the La Liga giants, and as such they would have been hoping someone of Can’s ability would have been available.
The locals will feel that they can continue to play without him, as the 24-year-old has been unavailable since March with the back problem, although a number of the punters would like to have seen him remain at Anfield as he has been influential for them in a number of matches over the last couple of years.
Nonetheless, alongside news that he won’t be going to the World Cup with Germany, it’s fair to say that the midfielder has endured a hellish week.
