It was a drab end to the Premier League this season for the Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern, who watched their side draw 1-1 with West Brom at the Hawthorns.
Clearly, there’s so much still to play for, with the Europa League final fast approaching Jurgen Klopp and his men.
Naturally, there’s been a lot of talk surrounding the transfer activity likely to take place at Anfield.
One man in particular, Christian Benteke, who has been linked with a move to Premier League rivals West Ham has announced his desire to stay at Liverpool despite enduring a frustrating first season and constantly being linked with moves away, report the Liverpool Echo.
The 25-year old was a huge £32m signing over the course of the summer, though has seemingly fallen victim to the change of management at Anfield since then.
A Brendan Rodgers signing, the former Aston Villa forward has failed to wholly convince under Jurgen Klopp and does not look overly suited to the German’s preferred style of play.
Daniel Sturridge, Danny Ings and Divock Origi are all vying for the centre-forward berth, making competition for places difficult.
Still, he believes continuing to learn under Klopp will improve him as a player and is not currently entertaining any notion about leaving the Reds this summer after just a season.
‘When I signed I didn’t sign for one year – I want to stay here next year,’ he roared.
‘I think I have the quality and the manager knows my strengths and weaknesses – I’ve no doubt (Klopp can make me better).’
‘I know I’ve had a tough season but I’m going to fight until the end. Everything can change so I keep focused and keep going for the team and myself.’
Should Benteke be given another season?
