Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are delighted with news summer 2016 target Mario Gotze is seemingly back on Jurgen Klopp’s radar.
The German World Cup winner – who scored the winning goal in extra time during the 2014 final in Brazil – emerged as one of European football’s most exciting young talents whilst working under Klopp at Borussia Dortmund.
He elected to leave the Black-Yellows for Bayern Munich in 2013, but endured three troubled seasons at the Allianz Arena and returned to his former club last summer – snubbing interest from Liverpool in the process.
But it hasn’t gone to plan for the attacking midfielder, who has been limited to just nine starts in the Bundesliga due to a metabolic disorder.
And Goal now claim Klopp could make another move for the 24-year-old this summer, but only if a ‘transfer materialises on Liverpool’s terms’ – presumably, if they don’t have to spend too much time convincing Bayern and the player to agree a deal.
It’s also added that Gotze’s versatility would make him an option for a number of places in the Liverpool line-up, namely across the midfield and the wide left position in attack.
However, Dortmund are reportedly reluctant to let the German international leave.
