Liverpool switch defensive targets, Klopp to battle Barcelona for 22-year old


Though the Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are eagerly awaiting arrivals in the attacking berths to get excited about, the more sensible crowd in this evening are delighted to read reports manager Jurgen Klopp is set to address a long running issue. 

With Alberto Moreno failing to convince in the left-back role for two years now, the Reds have been linked with a number of options to replace the suspect Spaniard.

One of those in particular is understood to be Leicester City defender Ben Chilwell, though the club could drop their interest in him should the Foxes not drop their valuation.

Now, according to Globo Esporte (via TEAMtalk), the Merseyside giants are ready to battle La Liga powerhouses Valencia and Barcelona to land Atletico Mineiro left-back Douglas Santos.

The Brazilian is believed to be valued at around £7.7m by his current charges, with Borussia Dortmund also reportedly keen.

Having previously played for Udinese, the 22-year old has previous in Europe and could provide a cheaper alternative to the Foxes ace.
