This is where Liverpool had stumbled before, where their Premier League title chances had crumbled and where the world laughed at them. Not this time.
Liverpool’s 2-0 win against Chelsea was a statement win for the Reds, a change in fortunes for the club that have faltered in games like this in the past, and to not only win it but win it comfortably is a major victory for Jurgen Klopp and his side going into the final weeks of the season.
We have seen Liverpool fans time and time again say “this is our year”, something this has been turned into a meme in the early days of football social media groups, but this year might genuinely be it.
With no games against the top six remaining and Manchester City yet to play Tottenham and Manchester United, with a bit of luck, the Reds could finally have the season supporters have been dreaming of and win the Premier League.
The high of beating Chelsea will be used as motivation going into the remaining games of the season, which Liverpool can all comfortably win if they keep their heads level and don’t let the pressure get to them despite the worst of the run-in being over and done with, and if Jurgen Klopp can keep his team grounded then there is a good chance they can collect maximum points.
“This is our year” has been an old Liverpool adage since time immemorial, but for the first time since the 90s, it’s starting to feel like it actually is. And, fans at Anfield are finally starting to believe as Klopp continues to bring supporters’ wildest dreams to live on Merseyside.
Liverpool fans, will the Reds win the Premier League title this season? Let us know!
