Our Liverpool fans here in the Transfer Tavern cannot wait to see how their side gets on this season as they look to compete for the Champions League title.
The men from Anfield get Saturday’s Premier League football underway this weekend as they head to Watford aiming to put some early pressure on the other title contenders in the league.
How they do, then, remains to be seen but our landlord reckons they could do without all the serious speculation around the future of Philippe Coutinho.
Indeed, it’s become very well known that Barcelona are linked with signing the Brazilian and after Neymar left the club, things have seemingly kicked up a gear in the rumour mill.
What happens next, then, remains to be seen but, according to Danny Mills on Sky Sports, the club is going to find it hard to keep a hold of him.
Jurgen Klopp has said that he is determined to keep hold of the player but, for Mills, that means next to nothing with him saying:
“Ultimately, Barcelona is one of the biggest football clubs in the world. Liverpool haven’t won the Premier League for many, many years.
“Barcelona are still at the top of the tree. If they come in for you… clearly he wants to go.”
Coutinho is hugely important to the Reds and what they want to achieve this season so they need to try and make sure that they can keep hold of him past the end of the window.
Barcelona are obviously keen but if the club can just keep him for one more year at least, they might be able to achieve something with him in the squad.
