Talks are underway for a pre-season friendly featuring Liverpool and Celtic. This in itself won’t rock anyone’s world, but what is of interest is that this could be part of a mini tournament to be staged in the Republic Of Ireland.
Croke Park, or rather the closed shop that occasionally opens in order to fill it’s coffers, aka the GAA have said that they were ‘not in a position to open’ such discussions.
They are wary of course that they don’t wish to be seen as being as avaricious as they actually are and will want the newly redeveloped Landsdowne Road to be discounted first.
The reality is that Landsdowne won’t really be big enough.
Robbie Keane will be like a dog with two tails, of course. Not knowing which set of supporters to let down first – by playing dreadfully.
