With sensational developments continuing to unfold in the North West, it is now the turn of the Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern to react with delight.
As the Reds gear up for the first summer transfer window of the Jurgen Klopp era, much of the talk has centred around a stunning move for German World Cup hero Mario Gotze.
While that’s all well and good, the buck does not stop with the Bayern Munich ace and the Merseyside giants have now been linked with another truly astonishing deal.
According to Portuguese outlet A Bola, a blockbuster move for highly rated Porto winger Yacine Brahimi is edging ever closer.
The 26-year old wide man excelled against Chelsea in the Champions League earlier this season and the Reds are understood to be nearing an agreement that would see them trigger the €60m release clause he has with Dragões.
That roughly equates to just over £45m, smashing the club’s transfer record of £10m less than that sum, which they shelled out for Andy Carroll in 2011.
Natural width has been a problem for the club since the departure of Raheem Sterling last summer, with only Jordon Ibe available as a recognised winger.
Should wingers be Liverpool’s priority this summer?
