Liverpool transfer report: Club may reluctantly have to give green light on midfielder exit

Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern will be hoping the club can find a replacement for Emre Can in the summer, with it appearing the Germany international is set to leave the Reds on a free after refusing to sign a new deal.

Their hopes of finding someone will have been boosted by the news that Watford is preparing to cash in on Abdoulaye Doucoure according to the Mirror. Indeed, the media outlet claims that the Hornets’ business model of finding rough talents for a bargain price and developing them into top-quality footballers before selling off for huge amounts of profit could come into force.

Doucoure is one of those who fit that mould, having cost the club just £6million in 2016, and Watford are now reportedly facing the prospect in which they may have to be prepared to listen to offers of £40m. Liverpool have apparently been interested in the midfielder in the past and their hopes of signing him would have been boosted as he declared that he would like to play for Liverpool one day.

As you can imagine, considering his good season in Hertfordshire, our local Liverpudlians are delighted.

Landlord’s Verdict

The Liverpool fans in the Tavern will be excited about the news that the Watford star has stated that he wants to play for their club in the future, although £40m may be a sum too much that the Reds will want to pay.

Locals will be wanting Jurgen Klopp to get a deal done for Doucoure, especially if they lose Can at the end of the season.
