The transfer window is almost over and currently closed for Premier League clubs.

Liverpool spent over £170m to strengthen their squad in the summer with Jurgen Klopp eager to build on the successes of last season. The Reds added the likes of Naby Keita and Alisson Becker to their starting eleven and made a perfect start to the new Premier League campaign. Three wins from three put Liverpool at the top of the table.

On the other hand, their league rivals Arsenal have struggled. The Gunners finally picked up their first win of the season against West Ham at the weekend after losing to both Chelsea and Manchester City. According to reports this week, their star forward – Alexandre Lacazette – is considering his future at the club. Valued at £54m by Transfermarkt, Liverpool should consider making a move for the French striker.

Lacazette moved to the Emirates last summer for a club-record fee believed to be worth £46m. The forward made 32 Premier League appearances in his debut season under Arsene Wenger, scoring 14 goals and notching four assists. He also made four appearances in the Europa League, finding the back of the net on three occasions. Following the arrival of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, he has been pushed down the pecking order and hasn’t started a game under Unai Emery.

The 27-year-old could prove to be a useful option for Jurgen Klopp. The France international would provide excellent cover to Roberto Firmino in the forward line and also give the ex-Dortmund boss an alternative to Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah on the wing. Whether Arsenal are willing to sell to a Premier League rival remains a potential stumbling block.

Nevertheless, Klopp should attempt to lure the hitman to Merseyside as soon as possible.
