Monumental boost for Liverpool as path clears for €25m World Cup hero

Liverpool fans are pouring their Transfer Tavern pints over the heads and dancing on the pool tables following reports emanating out of Germany.

According to Bildthe Reds are the ONLY side to have made a move for Bayern Munich playmaker Mario Gotze ahead of what is likely to be a pivotal summer in his career.

The 23-year old has reportedly been told by incoming boss Carlo Ancelotti that he can leave the Bavarian giants over the next months, after struggling for game time under Pep Guardiola.

Former club Borussia Dortmund have been linked with bringing their ex-boy wonder home, though they recently secured the mega money transfer of highly rated Rennes forward Ousmane Dembele.

The report claims that Jurgen Klopp is the only manager to have made a concrete move for the World Cup winner, ahead of a potential €25m deal.

The two worked together to great success at Signal Iduna Park prior to his controversial switch to the Allianz Arena.

Where would Gotze fit in at Anfield? Is he an essential purchase?
