These really are anxious times indeed for the Liverpool fans calming their nerves in the Transfer Tavern.
Though the Reds are currently in the driving seat when it comes to qualifying for the Champions League, one slip up could allow Arsenal into the top four.
So, tomorrow’s meeting with West Ham United could be a crunch game. While the Hammers have little left to play for, they recently derailed Tottenham’s title tilt and reports from the Daily Mail have done little to make our resident Kopites feel any better.
They claim Roberto Firmino is a major doubt for the trip to the London Stadium after playing the full 90 minutes in last week’s draw at home to Southampton.
Daniel Sturridge may be brought in to operate as Jurgen Klopp’s central striker, with Firmino not having trained at all this week.
”We are struggling a little bit with Roberto again and Lucas Leiva this week,’ said Klopp.
‘After the game they felt something, we have to wait and see what they can do there. I have said a few times as long as we have 11 we will be fine.
‘For a few weeks we have had to manage Roberto’s intensity in training and all that stuff.
‘He feels another muscle a little bit. Roberto is a real mentality player, he wants always to be involved and we need to make decisions for him.”
Such is the nature of his importance to Liverpool’s frontline, this isn’t good news at all.
