Liverpool fans will be glad to see Lyon come out on top in their Champions League fixture against Manchester City, even if it meant an unsuccessful Bethard bonus code use.

The Citizens were beaten 2-1 by the French side at the Etihad Stadium with goals from Maxwell Cornet and Nabil Fekir cancelling out Bernardo Silva’s second-half strike. Liverpool fans will have been keeping a close eye on Fekir in particular following his failed move to Anfield in the summer.

The playmaker was targeted by the Reds as the perfect replacement for Philippe Coutinho who left for Barcelona back in January. Fekir was keen on the move and Liverpool had a deal worth £52m to bring him to Anfield after the World Cup. However, concerns were raised over a previous knee injury and the deal was eventually called off.

After his showing against the Citizens, Liverpool must consider reviving their interest in the 25-year-old in the January transfer window. Valued at £54m by Transfermarkt, Fekir enjoyed a superb season in Ligue 1, scoring 18 goals and registering eight assists, which prompted Liverpool to make their move. Fekir has continued his form into the new campaign with two goals in his first three appearances.

With Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain out for the season and Adam Lallana proving to be unreliable, Fekir could be the perfect option in the engine room. The World Cup winner proved he could mix it with the Premier League’s best and his arrival could give Liverpool the boost they need to finally secure a Premier League title.

Liverpool fans would love to see Fekir finally perform in a red shirt, Jurgen Klopp needs to make it happen in January.
