Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have spent the last few hours discussing the latest news regarding their club’s reported swoop for Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart.
The England No.1 left the Etihad Stadium for Torino on a season-long loan at the start of the campaign, having realised he wouldn’t be a part of Pep Guardiola’s plans, and seems certain to leave his parent club permanently this summer.
Earlier this week, The Sun declared that the 30-year-old glovesman would move to Liverpool this summer in a £20million transfer deal, replacing the likes of Simon Mignolet and Lorius Karius to become the Reds’ undisputed first-choice goalkeeper.
But responding to the rumours on Thursday, Anfield gaffer Jurgen Klopp strenuously denied the reports, insisting there is no deal agreed to bring Hart to Anfield and that he won’t be pursuing one in the near future.
As quoted by BBC Sport, he said; “He’s a fantastic keeper, the highest quality, but it’s not for us at the moment, nor in the future.”
Although many Reds fans in the Tavern have become frustrated by Mignolet and Karius’ mistakes, the vast majority are relieved by the news – not viewing Hart as an obvious upgrade on either. Here’s a look at how Liverpool fans reacted to the transfer update on Twitter…
