The Crystal Palace fans who are gathered at the bar in The Transfer Tavern this evening are discussing reports that the club are on the verge of completing a deal to sign a new striker.
According to reports in The Mirror, the Eagles are close to announcing the signing of Christian Benteke from Liverpool.
The only thing left to sort in the transfer fee that the South Londoners will end up paying for the towering Belgian marksman.
Either way, it will break the club’s transfer record with the Reds looking to recoup the £32million they paid to secure the strikers services last summer.
Both clubs are confident the deal will be completed this week and the 25-year old will not only become the club’s most expensive signing, it is likely he will become the club’s highest earner.
Should the Benteke deal be completed he will become the club’s fourth signing of the summer following Steve Mandana, James Tomkins and Andros Townsend to Selhurst Park.
Will Benteke rediscover his form at Crystal Palace?
