Liverpool moved seven points clear of Manchester City at the top of the table thanks to a 4-0 victory against Newcastle.
Now, the January transfer window is almost upon us, and it remains to be seen whether Klopp will open his chequebook. The German is adamant that he is happy with his current squad after strengthening heavily in the summer. However, should deals present themselves, Klopp has shown a willingness to spend big halfway through the season.
One man who should be on his shortlist is Monaco forward – Pietro Pellegri. Valued at £7.2m by Transfermarkt, the 17-year-old burst on the scene for Genoa in the Serie A, making his debut as a 15-year-old. Pellegri’s goal against Roma made him the third youngest goalscorer in the Italian league behind only Amedeo Amadei and Gianni Rivera. Monaco recognised the youngster’s potential and parted with £18m back in January to lure him to France. However, Thierry Henry’s side are currently sat 19th in Ligue 1 which could tempt Pellegri into an early exit.
Under Klopp’s tutelage, the Italian could become a world-class striker. Despite his lack of football in recent seasons, Pellegri has all the attributes to be a massive success in the Premier League. With Liverpool’s back up forwards failing to impress, the tall forward could be Klopp’s secret weapon on the bench.
This move could prove to be a masterstroke by the Reds.
