2017 hasn’t yet been overly kind for the Liverpool fans propping up the bar in the Transfer Tavern, who are pretty nervous ahead of their monumental clash with Manchester United this weekend.
Though the Reds in the Tavern remain hopeful their side can finally win a Premier League title, there’s little doubt thing have stalled of late. So then, it’s nice for our Merseyside drinkers to read transfer reports from Goal in order to take their minds off of things.
They’ve claimed Spanish side Sevilla are unlikely to make a move for axed Anfield ace Mamadou Sakho, who has previously been reported to have a £20m valuation. Though the Frenchman’s exploits last term made him one of the club’s most popular players, he’s fallen down the pecking order under Jurgen Klopp.
Los Nervionenses have been linked with a move for the 26-year-old, though manager Jorge Sampaoli has revealed it will be difficult to pull off a deal of such magnitude. The Europa League winners, who beat Liverpool in the final of course, are notorious for their fine work in the transfer market and rarely splash such cash.
“I don’t know if we will modify our squad again,” he said. “Now, I think that we won’t reinforce more positions.
“We thought about signing another centre-back because [Daniel] Carrico had surgery, but it will be complicated”.
