Liverpool have thus far kept their 100% record intact as they aim to make this season more successful than the last, where they settled for a fourth place finish and a Champions League final.
After becoming the highest spenders in the league over the summer, Liverpool look in a comfortable place to be able to achieve bigger and better things this season.
They spent a world-record fee at the time for goalkeeper Alisson, as well as padding out their midfield with two quality additions in the form of Fabinho and Naby Keita. As good as their midfield has the potential to be, it wouldn’t be a bad thing if the Reds invested in another central-midfielder, someone like Barcelona’s Rafinha.
The Brazilian midfielder, (who is valued at £25.2 million on Transfermarkt) returned to Spain over the summer after completing a six-month loan deal at Inter Milan, where he scored twice and added a further three assists in what was a relatively successful loan spell.
Despite interest from a host of teams over the summer, Rafinha stayed put at Barcelona but having only played 45 minutes of football this season, it seems that the 25-year-old will be heading for the exit in January, where Liverpool should be waiting in the wing.
The Reds have never replaced Coutinho and seeing as Rafinha can also play as an attacking-midfielder, it could be a deal worth conducting.
He still has plenty of footballing ability left in him and given the right opportunities to shine, especially in the Premier League, Liverpool could relish the capture of a revolutionised Rafinha.
Is another midfielder what Liverpool need and would Rafinha be good enough… Let us know!
