The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern eagerly awaiting news over their club’s pursuit of Georginio Wijnaldum have been met with even more news about ANOTHER attacking midfielder.
Though Jurgen Klopp’s side is already full to the brim with players of such ilk, reports from Spanish outlet Marca claim the Reds boss is keen on Matteo Kovacic.
While the 22-year old is one of the most highly rated prospects in the European game, the vast array of illustrious attacking talent at Zinedine Zidane’s disposal could see his playing time limited.
To that end, the Champions League winners are reportedly keen on a potential deal for the former Inter Milan star, signed under Rafa Benitez only last summer.
Klopp is understood to be a huge fan of the Croatian international, though the player himself is thought to favour remaining in the Spanish capital.
The Merseyside giants aren’t the only club said to be interested in the midfielder, with a host of Serie A sides also thought be casting watchful eyes over his situation at the Santiago Bernabeu.
As good a player as Kovacic is, do Liverpool need more midfielders? Let us know below…
