It’s not every day the punters in the Transfer Tavern are greeted by the news that their club is a preferred destination of a Real Madrid superstar.
While Martin Odegaard is barely Cristiano Ronaldo or Gareth Bale, that’s exactly what the Liverpool fans propping up the bar have been greeted with this evening.
According to the Sun, the Norwegian playmaker hit headlines when he moved to Los Blancos last year in a lucrative deal for a player of his age.
Still, his tender years and the vast array of attacking talent has seen the 17-year old kept largely in the club’s Castilla ranks, though he has impressed during the club’s preseason tour of America.
German clubs such as Bayer Leverkusen and Hamburg are said to be keen on the midfielder, though his astronomical wages could prove a stumbling block in any move to the Bundesliga.
Would signing Odegaard be more of a publicity stunt than a good footballing signing? Let us know below…
