The Liverpool fans here in the Transfer Tavern are still absolutely gutted about the weekend’s performance against Tottenham Hotspur, making it a very long week for those drowning their sorrows in our bar.
Indeed, our resident Reds can’t believe just how awful Jurgen Klopp’s defence remains and believe it’s the only reason they’re not challenging for a title. So, at least reports from the Daily Mirror have proven rather interesting on that front.
They claim the German is ready to axe his current defensive flops and turn to his younger players, in an effort to eradicate the sort of frailties that have so far defined his reign in charge at Anfield. The likes of Joe Gomez are mentioned in the report by name, with the England U21 international reportedly likely to be handed a run in central defence.
He, along with Trent Alexander Arnold, are said to be likely to be handed more of a chance and the punters propping up our bar are on board with this idea, believing things can’t get much worse at the moment.
Why not? It’s so bad at the moment that Klopp really does need to change things up significantly and perhaps giving some young players a run could help.
