Life amongst the Liverpool fans this summer has proved rather frustrating as those propping up the bar in the Transfer Tavern continue to see big money pursuits fall flat on their faces.
The Reds’ reported interest in the likes of Virgil van Dijk and Naby Keita has led to nothing as we stand, much to the annoyance of our resident Kopites. So, eager to get those particular links off his mind, reports from the Daily Mail have at least given them something to talk about.
They’ve revealed that flop winger Lazar Markovic is surplus to requirements at Anfield and has reportedly met with Fiorentina over a move to Italy. Indeed, the Serbian international has spent most of his time on the books of Liverpool away on loan, including stints with Hull City and Sporting Lisbon.
Marco Silva, who worked with the man signed for £20m for six months with the Tigers, is understood to be keen on bringing the 23-year-old to Watford, though the Hornets are not believed to want to match the Reds’ reported £16m valuation.
Though much was expected of the winger following his arrival in 2014, though his seemingly likely departure won’t cause too many tears in the Tavern.
Markovic seems to be Jurgen Klopp’s type on paper. Indeed, the searingly quick winger SHOULD fit into the German’s heavy metal brand of football, though it just doesn’t look like working out in the slightest.
Liverpool have moved of late and there are so many options in attacking berths, so the idea of potentially raising funds from his sale has gone down rather well indeed.
