Liverpool fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are still debating whether or not it would be a good decision to let one of their out of favour strikers go, well the player himself may have offered up an alternative.
According to reports from the Daily Mail, Liverpool flop, Christian Benteke, is willing to move away from Anfield on loan in order to return to the form that convinced Brendan Rodgers to splash £32.5m on him last summer.
The Belgian international is at the bottom of the pecking order when it comes to strikers in Jurgen Klopp’s squad, having not got a minute of pre-season action under his belt on their tour of America.
The Reds have already snubbed a bid of £25m from Premier League rivals, Crystal Palace as they hold out for an offer of £30m, looking to recoup the majority of what they paid Aston Villa a year ago.
As per the Mail’s report, there is no desperate need on Klopp’s part to sell the 25-year-old and the German boss is happy to keep the striker should a deal not be struck this summer.
Liverpool fans, what do you make of this? Should the club lower their asking price or look to keep Benteke involved in the first team? Let us know below…
