Liverpool have strengthened significantly during the summer transfer window.
Jurgen Klopp has wasted no time in bolstering his ranks following their defeat in the Champions League final against Real Madrid. Naby Keita finally completed his move to Anfield and was joined at the club by former Monaco man, Fabinho. Klopp also signed Xherdan Shaqiri following Stoke’s relegation and Alisson Becker in a world-record move from Roma.
Klopp will now turn his attention to offloading a number of fringe players at Anfield. Dominic Solanke and Divock Origi have struggled immensely during pre-season and face an uncertain future at Anfield. Origi, in particular, will be allowed to leave the club for around £27m. Valencia are reportedly interested in bringing the Belgian forward to La Liga.
If so, Liverpool should attempt an audacious swap deal to land Spanish forward – Rodrigo. Valued at £45m by Transfermarkt, the 27-year-old enjoyed a stellar campaign, scoring 16 goals and registering four assists in the Spanish league. His form saw him earn a place in Spain’s 2018 World Cup squad.
Rodrigo would give Klopp some much-needed attacking reinforcements as he is capable of playing through the middle or on the right wing. Liverpool need an impact player from the bench to provide competition for Roberto Firmino. The Spain international has bags of pace and excellent dribbling ability that would make him a success in the Premier League.
Swapping Origi for Rodrigo would be their best move of the summer window.
