Liverpool supporters remain hugely delighted in the Transfer Tavern a week on from their side’s 5-0 thrashing of Porto in the first leg of their Champions League last 16 encounter, a result which all but books their spot in the quarter-finals.
Jurgen Klopp’s men went into their meeting with the Portuguese heavyweights unbeaten in European competition this season, having won three and drawn three of their six group stage matches, alongside victories in both legs against Hoffenheim in the play-off round before. And the Reds continued their wonderful run of form in Europe last week as a hat-trick from Sadio Mane as well as strikes from Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino sealed an easy win over Porto, all but securing their place in the last eight of Europe’s premier competition.
Thus, there have been many thrilled Liverpudlians in the Tavern in the last few days, and they are likely to be further encouraged by a recent report from Turkish.Football, which suggests that the Reds had scouts present to watch Anderson Talisca in action for Besiktas against Bayern Munich on Tuesday.
The 24-year-old made the move to the Turkish giants on loan from Benfica at the start of last season and has certainly proven his worth to the Super Lig champions, having scored an impressive 31 goals in just 66 appearances for the club.
And with 14 goals coming this term already, the attacker continues to go from strength to strength, and has reportedly attracted the interest of Klopp’s Liverpool to the point that the Merseyside giants reportedly had scouts in attendance on Tuesday watching Talisca in Besiktas’ 5-0 loss to Bayern.
And while the result was not ideal and maybe the 24-year-old wasn’t at his best, his efforts so far this season suggest that he could be a welcome addition to Klopp’s squad at Anfield were they to indeed firm up their interest in the summer.
Landlord’s verdict: Anderson Talisca has been in excellent form for Besiktas ever since he made the loan move to the club back in 2016, with 31 goals to show for his 66 appearances for the Turkish giants.
And with 14 goals already this season, the 24-year-old continues to make great strides with the Super Lig champions, to the point that interest is beginning to mount in his services, with Liverpool reportedly having sent scouts to watch him in action against Bayern Munich on Tuesday.
And while his side were thumped 5-0 by the German giants, Talisca’s efforts on the whole this term have been highly impressive, and with his loan spell at Besiktas coming to an end this summer, Jurgen Klopp’s side may fancy their chances of luring the £14.4 million-rated star (as per Transfermarkt) to Anfield in the close season.
