Seismic Euro result could have severe transfer consequences for Liverpool

Liverpool fans here in the Transfer Tavern enjoyed Juventus’ 3-0 hammering of Barcelona in the Champions League on Tuesday – with plenty wowed by Paulo Dybala – but Sport’s report that it may prompt the Catalans to move for Philippe Coutinho has brought them back down to earth.

The Brazilian has been, arguably, the Reds’ best performer this term and with three goals in his last three games he’s hitting form at just the right time for Jurgen Klopp’s side as they hunt down a top four finish.

However, Sport (below) claim that this may be his last campaign at Anfield with the Nou Camp giants eyeing him as part of a summer overhaul.

It’s believed that the 3-0 drubbing in the first leg of their European quarter-final at the hands of Juve is seen as a huge worry and that there will be a quality over quantity approach to signings this off-season, with Coutinho a target.

They allege that regardless of the Merseysiders’ confidence they can keep hold of the 24-year-old – perhaps brought on by his recent contract extension – Barca are sure they can lure him to Spain, where he could team up with his close friend, Neymar.

As well as the Liverpool man, Everton’s Gerard Deulofeu is being eyed, despite the club having sold him to Everton in 2015.

Philippe Coutinho will still be a Liverpool player in 2017/18 – agree?
