Liverpool remain unbeaten and on course to launch a serious title bid after another dominant display at the weekend.
The Reds haven’t always been at the top of their game this season but with six wins from six, they are showing their true title credentials. Dubbed as one of few teams who could do damaging towards City’s defence, Liverpool, if they recruited more squad depth in January could really go all the way and claim some kind of silverware this season.
Goalscoring wise, Liverpool have a fair few options but due to the huge amounts of games they could potentially play this season, signing a versatile forward like Nicolas Pepe could come in handy.
Pepe, (who is valued at £14.4 million on Transfermarkt) is a player in demand after his early season form has been nothing short of brilliant. In six Ligue 1 games, Pepe the 23-year-old has scored four times and also provided three assists.
This form hasn’t come on suddenly though as Pepe was a massively influential player for Lille again last season, after scoring 13 league goals.
Despite this staggering form, you would be right in thinking that Liverpool’s front three is pretty much cemented with Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah starting to fire on all cylinders.
However it only takes one injury or loss of form for a player to be dropped and with an option like Nicolas Pepe hot on their heels, competition for places will be at an all-time high.
Squad depth is a problem for most teams but the best like Manchester City have it in abundance, like Liverpool should do too if they want to contest for the title.
