While Jurgen Klopp’s first full season in charge of Liverpool was far from perfect for many of the locals propping up the bar in the Transfer Tavern, it certainly was exciting at times.
The German tactician put together one of the most exciting frontlines in recent Anfield memory in the shape of an attacking trident of Philippe Coutinho, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino. When you add the likes of Divock Origi and Daniel Sturridge into the mix, you start to get a feel of how just how devastating this incarnation of a Reds team could be.
Which is exactly why the recent news that the Kop titans would likely sign Chelsea forward Dominic Solanke had provided even more excitement. The England U20 international is one of the most highly rated Englishmen out there, so the fact he’s probably soon to move to Anfield went down a storm.
So, the fact he scored a crucial goal to put the Young Lions through to the U20 World Cup has not been lost on our local Kopites. Bearing that in mind, here’s a look at how those on Twitter reacted to Solanke’s goal.
