Adam Lallana and Tottenham Hotspur seemed a match made in heaven to those in the Transfer Tavern.
The England international excelled under the stewardship of Mauricio Pochettino while the pair worked at Southampton and in many ways represents the ideal sort of player for the North London club.
However, the Liverpool star has now dismissed talk he could be set for a switch to White Hart Lane to reunite with the Argentine.
Having improved under Jurgen Klopp, the 28-year old has revealed his excitement for the future at Anfield to the Liverpool Echo.
Ahead of their Europa League final showdown with Sevilla tomorrow night, the former Saints captain and his manager shared a joke about the reported interest from the capital.
Speaking in the pre-match press conference, Lallana and Klopp brushed aside speculation.
‘What are you doing here?’ Klopp asked.
‘Speaking about you!’ Lallana said.
‘Ask him if he knows when Spurs start pre-season training?’ joked the jovial German.
‘Too late, we have already spoken about that,’ quipped England’s Euro 2016 hopeful’
‘I asked him and he said July 1,’ laughed the former Borussia Dortmund coach.
After the joking had stopped, Lallana reaffirmed his desire to remain on Merseyside after blossoming in recent months.
‘I’ve got three years left on my contract here.’
‘It was only last season that people might have read that I was leaving and thought ‘Yes, let’s get him out’.’
‘But football changes very quickly and I’m really enjoying my football under this manager.’
‘I am at a massive club here and playing some of my best football for the club, getting to cup finals.’
How much has Lallana improved under Klopp? Can he continue to blossom and be considered a key member of the Reds squad?
