Liverpool fans here in the Tavern won’t want to taste disappointment once again in the Champions League next season after failing to overcome the challenges of Real Madrid. But, Jurgen Klopp will need to hold onto key players to stand any chance of going one better in the next campaign.
Indeed, the Reds were unstoppable in the Champions League last season as they stormed through the competition, but were let down by two silly goalkeeping mistakes that cost them the trophy.
Jurgen Klopp has already been looking to bring players in this summer and will no doubt look to add even more quality to his squad as the transfer window progresses. But, this has raised concern for many of our local residents as they may have to say goodbye to a couple of players from the current squad, with competition for places hotting up.
With that in mind, surely Klopp is fearful this Liverpool duo will leave the Anfield soon…
Adam Lallana spent a large amount of time out of the side last season after suffering an injury and struggled to get a look in when he returned to action.
It’s almost impossible for the Englishman to break into the Reds’ attack with the likes of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino forming a formidable attacking line. And, with Liverpool still searching for a suitable replacement for Philippe Coutinho, it looks as if Lallana may be forced to head towards the exits.
But, many of our local Liverpudlians are extremely fearful about his possible departure as it may come back to bite the Reds having seen how brilliant the attacking midfielder can be on his day.
Liverpool have already added Fabinho to their ranks this summer and currently have Trent Alexander-Arnold, Alberto Moreno, Andrew Robertson and Joe Gomez at their disposal, so Nathaniel Clyne may struggle to earn a place in the side during the next campaign as the Reds are overloaded with talent in his preferred position.
But, the Englishman’s talents shouldn’t be overlooked as he is arguably one of the best full-backs in English football when he’s fit and playing.
Therefore, Klopp may be quaking in his boots as the summer transfer window progresses, with an approach from another team possibly giving the defender a route out of Anfield.
