Liverpool fans in the Tavern already have eyes on next season with the club set to finish in the top four yet again and look to mount a serious title challenge following a summer revamp.
Jurgen Klopp will add Naby Keita to this squad when the window officially reopens, and plenty of names have been linked with a move to Anfield. With Liverpool likely to be competing in multiple competitions, more squad depth is needed especially in midfield with Emre Can yet to commit to a new contract on Merseyside.
Klopp reportedly holds an interest in Real Madrid youngster, Dani Ceballos, who is valued at £10.8m by Transfermarkt. Over in Spain, the 21-year-old has struggled for game time under Zinedine Zidane since making a move from Real Betis given the star talent currently in the Madrid midfield.
An exit from the Bernabeu could be Ceballos’ best bet for first-team football and Liverpool could be the perfect destination.
Klopp has a history of developing young players and has managed to turn Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain into a key performer following his £35m move from Arsenal. Elsewhere, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez have also enjoyed plenty of first-team action after becoming an integral part of the German’s plans.
Competition for places in the Liverpool midfield will be rife but Klopp has chosen to rotate frequently throughout the season meaning game time shouldn’t be a problem for Ceballos. With Emre Can surely likely to depart, an already fairly thin squad would be buffed out and improved if Ceballos arrived.
With both he and Keita in the squad, the Reds would have some midfield strength to go along with their attack, at long last.
If he can adapt to the physicality of the Premier League, he could be a great addition to Liverpool’s squad.
