Liverpool got off to the best possible start on the opening day of their Premier League campaign as they smashed West Ham United at Anfield.
The Reds looked rampant last time out as they secured all three points by embarrassing a West Ham United side that had been one of the big spenders in the summer transfer window. But, they won’t get too carried away as they face another difficult test later on today.
Jurgen Klopp’s side will travel to Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace later on today. The Eagles managed to secure all three points away at newly-promoted side Fulham last time out, so Liverpool will need to be at their best to find a way past Roy Hodgson’s men.
So, having taken Jurgen Klopp’s previous selection into consideration and the fitness of World Cup players, we’ve come up with a team that we think the German could line up with against Crystal Palace.
Have a look below to see the entire potential team in FULL…
LIVERPOOL’S POTENTIAL TEAM VS CRYSTAL PALACE
We’ve gone with a 4-3-3 formation, as that is the formation that Klopp has enjoyed a lot of success from during his time as Liverpool boss. This allows the deadly front three to attack the opposition’s defence at all times, while the midfield three will work hard to keep possession and snuff out any oncoming attacks.
Alisson Becker is already looking the real deal as he managed to keep a clean sheet against the Hammers last time out, so he will be keen to showcase his talents once again today.
In defence, Jurgen Klopp will be confident that Virgil Van Dijk and Joe Gomez can keep things tight after a dominant display last time out. Meanwhile, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson will line up on either flanks, as two of the Reds’ most underrated players.
Naby Keita was phenomenal on his Premier League debut as he made everything look easy and almost found himself on the scoresheet. And, the ever-reliable James Milner will be his energetic self in the middle of midfield after creating the second goal last time out, with Fabinho possibly being gifted his Premier League debut in place of Georginio Wijnaldum.
Lastly, Liverpool will line up with their usual potent attack that includes Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane. And, it’s safe to say that all three men found it easy to get back into the swing of things as both Mane and Salah opened their goalscoring accounts, with Firmino notching an assist as the provider.
