According to a recent report from RTL (via Sky Sports), Adrien Rabiot looks set to leave Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain in 2019. The 23-year-old has come up through the ranks at the French heavyweights and has helped them dominate domestically in the last few years, although it does appear as though his future is away from the Parc des Princes.

And that’s because recent comments from his agent suggest that he will leave Thomas Tuchel’s men in 2019, what with his contract up at the end of the season, and this should be of keen interest to Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, as the door appears to be very much open for the German to land the final piece of his Reds jigsaw.

The Breakdown

Ultimately, the Merseyside giants have been heading in the right direction pretty much ever since Klopp took over from Brendan Rodgers back in October 2015, but the last 12 months have seen the club really move to the next level under the ex-Borussia Dortmund chief.

And much of that has been down to the very shrewd signings made by Klopp in a bid to plug holes in his Liverpool squad, with the arrivals of Virgil van Dijk and Alisson in particular helping shore up a defence which, until the former made the move to Anfield back in January, were very vulnerable indeed.

Yet one still senses that the Reds could do with more quality in the middle of the park as, although the likes of Jordan Henderson, James Milner, and Georginio Wijnaldum have all impressed in recent times, they don’t have huge amounts of ability on the ball in seeking to get forward and create something.

And with Fabinho growing into the role of the more defensive-minded central midfielder in Klopp’s side, the Liverpool boss now needs to turn his attentions to a holding midfielder with greater technical ability if he is to finally complete the Reds jigsaw - Rabiot is the man for the job.

The 23-year-old may have struggled for regular football at PSG this season, but on the whole he has been a regular at the club ever since breaking into the senior side back in 2012, appearing 227 times for Tuchel’s men in the last six-and-a-half years, scoring 24 goals and laying on 17 assists in the process.

But it’s what Rabiot is able to do in the middle of the park which should be of keen interest to Klopp, as the France international is excellent on the ball in keeping things simple but also picking a pass towards the front men, while he also isn’t afraid to get on the ball and make up yards with industrious runs forward - ultimately, he can dictate play in the midfield in a much more effective way than the current options at Klopp’s disposal.

Yes, the Reds are top of the Premier League at present and have reached the last 16 of the Champions League, but without having that central midfielder who can orchestrate things in the middle of the park could prove to be their downfall - Rabiot is the man for the job.

And that is why news that he will definitely leave PSG should be of huge interest to Klopp, as the door is now very much open for the Liverpool manager to land the final piece of his Reds jigsaw.
