Liverpool are in desperate need of midfield creativity when the January transfer window opens in less than a month.

The Reds travelled to face Paris St Germain with a midfield trio of Jordan Henderson, Gini Wijnaldum and James Milner. The trio simply couldn’t handle PSG’s attacking quality while not creating enough for Liverpool’s famed forwards. Liverpool managed just one shot on target, which came from the penalty spot, highlighting the need for a playmaker in the engine room.

With Naby Keita and Fabinho still adapting to life in England, a number ten to replace Philippe Coutinho is desperately needed despite Jurgen Klopp suggesting there is no issues with his midfield.

The solution to Liverpool’s problems could be former Chelsea star – Thorgan Hazard. Valued at £22.5m by Transfermarkt, the Belgium international has got his career back on track in the Bundesliga with Borussia Monchengladbach after failing to break into the Chelsea first-team alongside his brother Eden. The 25-year-old is making waves in Germany following a blistering start to the new campaign.

Hazard has already found the back of the net eight times in just 12 appearances this season as well as registering five assists in the league. Averaging an incredible 2.4 key passes per game, the Belgian’s creativity would help Liverpool’s forwards finally get firing again. With the quality of passing to unlock a defence and expert dribbling ability, Hazard could be the playmaker that Liverpool fans have been crying out for. The former Lens man also possesses a fantastic work rate meaning he should have no issues adapting to Klopp’s pressing system at Anfield (WhoScored).

While he may never eclipse the achievements of his brother in the Premier League, Hazard could make his own name on Merseyside.
