Tottenham star on Klopp’s transfer radar as Liverpool plot title assault next season

The Liverpool fans here in the Transfer Tavern are loving life under Jurgen Klopp this season. Indeed, the punters propping up the bar have been delighted with the club’s journey to the Champions League final and their meeting with Real Madrid in just a couple of weeks time promises to be a game for the ages.

Still, our resident Reds are already looking ahead to next season. If they can win Europe’s top prize again, attentions will turn on Merseyside to winning a first Premier League title and, in their eyes, it’s not as if the club are all too far off making a sustained challenge.

With Naby Keita arrival, excitement is palpable amongst our resident Kopites. Well, thanks to a report from Bleacher Report, it’s risen even further.

That’s because, included within their extensive look ahead to next season at Anfield, they claim Tottenham Hotspur star Toby Alderweireld is on Liverpool’s radar. The Belgian, along with England international Harry Maguire, are reportedly being considered as potential summer signings, with Klopp thought to be tempted to bring another central defender to his cause.

Virgil van Dijk’s arrival over the course of the January window saw an upturn in form so, as you can imagine, our local Liverpudlians are dreaming about what would happen should the Dutchman gain a partner of equal standing ahead of next term.

Landlord’s Verdict:

If Klopp did bring Alderweireld to Anfield this summer, Liverpool would surely be one of the favourites for the Premier League. Not only would a rival be weakened, the Reds would be gaining one of the best central defenders in Europe, someone who can help marshal the backline alongside VVD, as well as launch searing counter-attacks with his wonderful diagonal passing.
