There seems to be a wealth of talent coming through the ranks at Liverpool at the moment.
Derby loanee Harry Wilson has been outstanding for Frank Lampard’s side this season and could well find himself in the Liverpool first-team next season. Young fullback, Tony Gallacher was highly sought after before he made the move down south after earning rave reviews for Falkirk, while Ben Woodburn is regarded as one of the best talents to come through the academy in recent years despite having a poor loan spell with Sheffield United.
Over the summer, Liverpool added another young talent to their ranks in the form of Ajax defender, Ki-Jana Hoever.
Capable of playing as a centreback or as a right-back, the youngster has already earnt rave reviews in his short time in Liverpool. He’s played five times in the under-18 side this season and has also been promoted to the under-23 side this season.
He basically has every attribute needed to play the position as he has superb pace and technique. Following his debut for the under-23 side, Neil Critchley – the under-23 manager – praised his performance and was impressed at how well he played given his age.
Recently he’s been called into the first-team for training following injuries to Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez. While it is unlikely that his first-team debut is anywhere near, the mere fact that he has made such quick progression through the academy teams is a testament to how good he is. There’s no doubt that Klopp will be keeping a keen eye on the youngster over the next few months.
