This article forms part of our Valuation Evaluation feature series, which is where Football Transfer Tavern takes a look at the increase or decrease of a player’s Transfermarkt valuation and whether it is justified or not.
Despite being just 21 years of age, Trent Alexander-Arnold is already one of Liverpool’s most important players.
According to Transfermarkt, the right-back is also the Merseyside club’s third-most valuable player. Having once been valued at just £450k, he is now worth £99m, leaving him only behind Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah, who Transfermarkt value at £135m each.
Not even Virgil van Dijk, rated at £90m, is worth as much, according to the German website. Given the Dutchman’s importance to the team, some may debate that. After all, this is a central defender who was not dribbled past in 50 games.
How much is Trent Alexander-Arnold worth?
£100m or more
Less than £100m
Still, that does not change the fact that the rapid increase in Alexander-Arnold’s valuation is completely warranted. At least going forward, you will find it hard to find a better full-back in the Premier League, arguably in the world.
With 12 assists, only Kevin De Bruyne has managed more in English football’s top flight — some feat given that the England international is a defender. He is also averaging 2.4 crosses, which again only De Bruyne can beat (2.5, via WhoScored), showing just how much of a threat the right-back is in attack.
Already a Champions League winner and soon-to-be Premier League champion, at 21, it is scary to imagine how far Alexander-Arnold can go in the game and what else he can accomplish. The way he has been utilised by Jurgen Klopp, as an attacking weapon, it is no surprise that he is now worth close to £100m.
