After a mixed week, there has been some potentially concerning news for the Liverpool supporters who are waiting for a drink in the Transfer Tavern. Indeed, after the loss to Manchester United and being drawn against Manchester City in the Champions League, our resident Reds have had a difficult time.
Now, Portuguese outlet Globosporte via the Daily Express reports that AS Roma’s goalkeeper, Alisson, has suggested that he would rather move to Real Madrid than Liverpool. The Reds have been in need of a goalkeeper for some time, and it is reported that Alisson has been identified as the individual who will alleviate their concerns.
The Brazilian goalkeeper has made 51 appearances (so far) for Roma over the course of the previous two seasons, and he was touted to follow in the footsteps of Mohammed Salah by joining Liverpool from AS Roma.
However, Real Madrid – like Liverpool – are also apparently seeking reinforcements in the goalkeeping department, and Alisson has been identified as a target. He is valued at £14.4M by Transfermark, though is largely considered to be one of the best stoppers in Europe.
Liverpool’s need for a goalkeeper is apparent for all to see. Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius are simply not good enough if the Reds are to challenge for trophies and be competitive in the Champions League. A new glovesman should be their top priority in the summer.
