‘Very happy to hear this’ – Liverpool fans on Twitter react following club’s update

The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to news coming out of the England training camp that Jordan Henderson will wear the captain’s armband for the Three Lions’ friendly fixture against The Netherlands tonight. There was also some big news coming out of the Dutch camp too, as Henderson’s club teammate, Virgil van Dijk, will captain The Netherlands in tonight’s friendly.

The friendly fixture is part of their preparations for the World Cup in Russia, as they look to make up for the last tournament’s disappointment in Brazil where they failed to win a game and bowed out of the group stages having scored just two goals. This year promises to be different, however, as the England side have some of the best players in the world in Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Raheem Sterling.

The Netherlands’ side failed to qualify for the summer’s World Cup finals, despite finishing 3rd in Brazil four years ago. The game will provide Ronald Koeman’s team with a chance to test themselves against the side’s who are in the tournament as they look to get themselves back on track having missed out on the two major tournaments in a row in Euro 2016 and the World Cup in 2018. Jordan Henderson and co will have their work cut out for them tonight though as they face tricky a tricky game against the side who beat them at Wembley when they last faced.

Here’s what the Liverpool fans made of Henderson’s captaincy after the club congratulated him:
