Liverpool fans here in the Tavern are gaining a sense of uncertainty as a leaky defence isn’t set to be improved, with a star defender still out injured.
The Reds have endured a typically ‘Liverpool’ start to the season, as they continue to provide inconsistency in results. Sitting outside of the Champions League places, they seem to be struggling against the lower opposition. With answers needed and consistency being key, they’re looking to gain some momentum in what has turned out to be a very demanding season.
Having not utilized the summer window to its full potential, Klopp and his side still find their defence leaking goals left, right and centre. With all fans making it visible that a defender is required after the shock defending last season, they made no acquisition much to the astonishment of everybody surrounding the club. Having played 10 games already this season, this looks to be the downfall in what has been one of the worst defences in the Premier League.
However, another aspect to the somewhat horrific defence could be down to one man, Nathaniel Clyne. The England star has been out for the duration of the season with a back injury, with the resolution being for Klopp to give a couple of inexperienced youngsters a chance at right-back. So having lost the experienced Clyne, a lack of experience in defence has proven quite the downfall down the right-hand side.
If the season wasn’t already bad for the Merseyside faithful, then it’s just got even worse as Klopp states that he is unaware of a timetable return for the right back, much to fans’ dismay. As he spoke to the Liverpool Echo on the topic of injuries, as he shed some light on all the drawbacks and returns. So having had major injury setbacks, Liverpool will hope they can continue their form in their next challenge as they face Maribor in the Champions League.
So here’s a look at what fans on social media think about the Clyne uncertainty…

Reality is that we've been without our best defender (Clyne) all season and nobody has really mentioned it. Have 2 kids rotating Right-Back.
