Yesterday proved to be a rather embarrassing day for the Liverpool fans propping up the bar in the Transfer Tavern.
Our resident Reds were forced to watch their side publicly apologise to Southampton over Virgil van Dijk and end their interest in the Dutchman. Widely regarded as one of the best defenders in Europe, the fact he probably won’t move to Anfield has the local Kopites rather disappointed indeed.
Still, their only summer signing so far has at least helped take their collective minds off of the VVD saga, with Dominic Solanke having helped fire the England U20s into the World Cup final against Italy.
The 19-year-old is to join the Reds in a few weeks after agreeing to leave Chelsea and his brace – helped by another Liverpool starlet in Sheyi Ojo – has excited the fans in the bar.
With that in mind, here’s a look at how fans on Twitter reacted to his performance.
