Liverpool supporters remain very buoyant in the Transfer Tavern a week on from their thumping 5-0 win over Porto in the first leg of their Champions League last 16 clash, a result which all but secures their place in the quarter-finals.
Jurgen Klopp’s men went into their encounter with the Portuguese giants unbeaten in European competition this term, having won three and drawn three of their six group stage games, alongside victories in both legs against Hoffenheim in the play-off round before. And the Reds continued their excellent run of form in Europe last week as a hat-trick from Sadio Mane as well as strikes from Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino sealed a comprehensive victory, all but booking their spot in the last eight of Europe’s elite competition.
Subsequently, there have been many delighted Liverpudlians in the Tavern in the last few days, and they are likely to be further intrigued and perhaps encouraged by a recent report from France Football (via The Sun), which suggests that Lyon wonderkid Mohamed Bahlouli is on the Reds’ radar.
The 18-year-old has yet to make a senior appearance for the Ligue 1 giants yet is slowly but surely making his way up through the ranks at the French club, having already appeared for the club’s Under-19 squad.
And the midfielder must be doing something right as reports suggest that Klopp’s Liverpool are keeping tabs on his progress ahead of a possible move for Bahlouli in the summer.
And with the midfielder himself reportedly keen on a move to Anfield, the Merseyside giants may well be able to lure him to the Premier League during the close season.
Landlord’s verdict: Mohamed Bahlouli appears to be making great strides at French giants Lyon, with the 18-year-old reportedly not far away from making his debut for the senior side.
And the midfielder must be doing something right as Liverpool are reportedly monitoring his progress ahead of potentially making a move for the wonderkid this summer.
Jurgen Klopp’s men are certainly heading in the right direction under the German’s stewardship and landing Bahlouli would be another nod to the future, a future many Reds fans hope will see the club regain their position at the top of the English game.
