Liverpool ensured they would top of the table on Christmas Day with an excellent 2-0 victory against Wolves last Friday.

Victory against the Midlands club guaranteed that the Reds would sit top of the tree on December 25th with Jurgen Klopp naming a strong line-up against Nuno Espirito Santo’s men. Liverpool took a first-half lead when Fabinho expertly picked out Mohamed Salah who finished exquisitely. Wolves searched for an equaliser but found Virgil van Dijk in typically excellent form – the Dutchman was on hand to score his first Premier League goal for the Reds to wrap up the points.

Following Manchester City’s surprise defeat to Crystal Palace, Liverpool finally have some breathing room at the summit of the table, moving four points clear of the Citizens. The January transfer window is fast approaching, but it remains to be seen whether Klopp will enter the market. The German seems happy with his squad - one or two new additions could give Liverpool another boost in the New Year.

One man who could be targeted is Monaco lynchpin – Youri Tielemans. Valued at £16.2m by Transfermarkt, the Belgium international was earmarked as a future superstar after breaking into the Anderlecht team at the age of 18. A move to a bigger club in Europe was always on the cards, and it was Monaco that won the race for his signature back in the summer of 2017. However, with the French side languishing in 19th place in Ligue 1, the 21-year-old could be tempted to leave in the upcoming window.

Tielemans has the potential to be one of the best midfielders in the world and working with Klopp could be just what he needs to get his career back on track. With a fine range of passing, expert dribbling skills and excellent long shots – he would be a perfect fit at Anfield. With James Milner approaching the end of his career and Adam Lallana failing to impress, Tielemans would be a fantastic addition.
