Liverpool fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are hung up after the Daily Mail revealed that Southampton rejected the Reds’ bid of £10m for defender Nathanial Clyne.
Brendan Rodgers has been eyeing a move for the England international as he is looking for a long term replacement for Glen Johnson.
Punters in the Tavern are laughing at the £10m bid because it is nowhere near what Clyne is worth.
Manchester United are also keen on the defender as they look to bring him in from St Mary’s like they did when they signed Luke Shaw last summer.
If the Reds do miss out on Clyne this summer, they have also singled out Benfica star Nico Gaitan as a potential transfer target.
This Argentine international has been tipped to leave the Portuguese giants this summer and Anfield is expected to be his next destination.
