The Liverpool fans here in the Transfer Tavern are just about over their cruel penalty shootout defeat at the hands of Manchester City in Sunday’s Capital One Cup Final, and are looking towards the chance for retribution when they meet in the league this evening.
With the summer months fast approaching, many Reds supporters have started to talk about which players the club might look to bring in to the club, with a striker seemingly top of many supporters’ list.
Our landlord thinks some of the Reds fans might be a little too hasty in calling for a striker and has spotted an article in the Daily Star who claim that boss Jurgen Klopp has told Christian Benteke, that he may still have a future at the club.
The Belgian striker has not played a single minute during the last three games and his Reds career his seemingly on the line, following a summer switch from Aston Villa.
Klopp said: “This is a decision for the now and not the future. The only thing he can do is work, there is no alternative to that.
“Christian wasn’t in the best moment of his career four or five weeks ago. It was obvious.
“The only thing Christian can do is accept this decision in a positive way.”
Liverpool fans… Should Klopp stick with Benteke or flog him in the summer?
