Liverpool’s Anderson Arroyo set to join Gent

Liverpool are preparing to let one of their youth players leave the club this summer to get regular football.

According to a report by Goal, Anderson Arroyo is set to join Gent on a season-long loan move, where he will team up with fellow academy player Taiwo Awoniyi.

The defender, who only joined the club in February, has already had a spell away from the club where he made 13 appearances for Real de Mallorca’s ‘B’ side.

It was understood that he would remain in Spain, however, Jurgen Klopp is believed to prefer the move to Belgium as a better option for the 18-year-old.

Arroyo could look to play European football in the Europa League with Gent, as well as regular Jupiler League Pro minutes.

The Verdict:

Arroyo is highly-rated at Anfield and Liverpool obviously want him to play football at a high level.

The teenager still requires a work permit to play for the Premier League side and they believe if he can get a regular amount of games in Belgium with Gent, that will help him to obtain the documentation in a quicker fashion.

He will be teaming up with Awoniyi, who himself has started life at the club in fine form, so if he were able to replicate those displays, Liverpool will certainly be looking forward to the duo’s future.
