Liverpool’s attack will be unstoppable if they capitalise on £63m-rated striker’s availability

The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have been feeling downbeat this week since they suffered a 3-1 defeat in the Champions League final against Real Madrid, and they have been discussing how Jurgen Klopp can finally win his first trophy with the club next season.

Lorius Karius has stolen the headlines this week for his cataclysmic performance in the final which almost single-handedly lost Liverpool the Champions League, and the German’s mistakes have rather overshadowed Liverpool’s toothless edge in the final-third after Mo Salah was forced off the field of play. Sadio Mane provided Liverpool with an equaliser following a well worked corner routine in the second-half, but they struggled to create clear-cut chances aside from that.

Salah’s first-half substitution hit Liverpool hard and, in truth, they never fully recovered after Lallana came on to replace him. The Reds’ struggle in the absence of the electric Egyptian illuminated their over-reliance on his spark in the final-third, so Jurgen Klopp should enter the market for at least one more attacking player this summer.

Roberto Firmino has been relatively unchallenged for a starting berth at the spearhead of Liverpool’s attack so far this season, but if Klopp wants to take his side up a level next season then that needs to change. With that in mind, Liverpool should take note of recent reports from Italian media outlet Tuttosport which claim Juventus are willing to let Gonzalo Higuain depart the club this summer.

The report claims that the Old Lady are open to the possibility of selling the prolific Argentine striker on the account of his age. Although Firmino has been in exceptional form this season, the club are lacking the presence of a poacher who can offer something different to what the Brazilian provides in a deeper-lying role.

Higuain (valued at £63 million by Transfermarkt) would undoubtedly solve that problem and provide Liverpool with an extra option which would enable the club’s attack to rival Manchester City’s as the best in English football, so Klopp should make a huge statement of intent this summer by bringing him to Anfield.
