There is no denying that Liverpool will be buzzing about overcoming Bayern Munich and qualifying for the next stage of the Champions League as they wait with anticipation to find out who they will play next.
However, it appears one man has not been enjoying his time at Anfield recently and looks set to leave the club in the summer.
What’s the News?
According to a report by Corriere Dello Sport (via Sport Witness), Bobby Adekanye is looking to find a way out of the Premier League outfit.
It is believed the 20-year-old knows his chances of ever breaking into Jurgen Klopp’s first-team are extremely limited and it is understood SS Lazio prepared to offer him a way out in the summer on a free transfer, with the Holland Under-20 international’s contract set to expire.
Liverpool are claimed to have offered him a new deal in February, however, Adekanye turned that down in order to consider his options.
Adekanye has bundles of ability and it is a shame that he never really got a chance to show what he can do at Liverpool.
A left-sided winger, who can also play just behind a striker, he is blessed with tremendous acceleration and skill and has an eye for goal. His ability has also drawn comparisons to Arjen Robben back in his homeland, which would have made him a really exciting prospect, however, consistency has always been an issue for the 20-year-old.
And, it would have appeared many had shared the same opinion regarding the talent he has, having started at Ajax’s academy and subsequently joined the famed La Maisa academy at Barcelona before arriving in England with Liverpool.
A move away from the Premier League outfit would make sense for Adekanye, as things are unlikely to improve in the future for him at Anfield. Despite being incredibly talented, he has not had the opportunities to show what he can do and a switch to Italian football could give him the chance to shine.
Whether the club will miss him remains to be seen, as it will likely depend on how the 20-year-old develops by playing regular football. But at the moment, with all the options they currently have and the way Harry Wilson is developing, many might not be too disappointed to see the young Dutchman leave.
